Opinion: Waiving the Jones Act Won’t Lower Gas Prices—Tanker Markets Prove It
freight_commodity_indices · 2026-03-10 16:48:10
Claims that waiving the Jones Act would lower U.S. gasoline prices ignore a key reality: global tanker freight markets. Current Worldscale rates suggest foreign-flag tankers would likely deliver fuel at a higher cost than Jones Act vessels.

Joining Old Ship
reddit:r/maritime · 2026-02-19 02:38:37
Hello, I am a 26 year old 4th engineer. I will join a 1998 built chemical tanker as an engine cadet in order to complete the sea time required to process my Advanced Tanker Certificate. However, the engineers in the company call the vessel I was assigned to a “graveyard ship.” I will only serve as a cadet for one month, but I feel worried. Could you share your opinion or advice? submitted by /u/Salum9
